Fun times at SOCO Farm and Food

Today we visited SOCO Farm and Food. Our friends, Jeremy and Kimberly run this restaraunt/bed and breakfast/farm. Before it was a B&B and restaraunt it was just our favorite place to hang out!

Today we went so that mommy could model some helmets for Kimberly. It was kind of cold out but Lillian, you were running all over the place.  Luke, you were all bundled up in GG's arms and inside her coat.

Before we left we visited Brownie, one of Kimberly's show horses. This was the first time either of you have seen a horse. It was so sweet watching you two!

It's been way toooooo long!

Wow, my last entry was about the excitement of awaiting Luke's arrival.  Now, he has been in our life for 8 months now!!  That is so hard believe! He is such a joy. He is easy going, mild mannered, sweet, cute and crazy active...oh, and he requires little sleep.

I'm going to do a recap soon...

Let the nesting begin!

Well, there is about 2 more weeks before Luke is due to arrive! It's hard to believe we're coming to the end of the pregnancy journey.  I have loved being pregnant with Luke.  He is so active!  Other people can see him moving in my belly. I'm definitely getting to that place where its hard to get things done, and that's not good when your in major nesting mode. Luke's daddy has been running like crazy trying to keep up with my to do list! He has done so much to prepare for you Luke! We're ready to bring you home.  You're sister loves to pull up my shirt and poke at my belly.  I can't wait to see you all together.

Our house is going to be a little crazy for a while but it will be full of craziness and love!!

Birthday Girl Turns One!

A message to my beautiful daughter...

I can't believe I've had you in my life for a year now!  I remember worrying every night if you were breathing...starring at your chest, feeling for breath. I thought "how do people make it through the first year". Those days already feel so distant.

I have loved every moment with you. Some things stand out in my mind, beginning with two days before you were born. I spent part of the day with GG and your cousin Jordan and while I was on the way home I started feeling a bit uncomfortable; I had to sleep on the couch that night. The next morning the contractions started. Your daddy and I were timing them on the computer (you have a print-out if this). Aunt Ashley and GG quickly came to Greenville and after many hours we headed to the hospital. It was a loooong night. You were quite content with where you were and did not want to leave. Finally at 4:20 am, the next morning, you were born!! Your daddy and I were so happy.  Your daddy took you around to show you off. You were so precious.

Through the year to come we did everything together. You were always by my side, or should I say wrapped up with me.

I used to sing "belly riding with momma" as I whipped that blue fabric all around me. You would get so excited. It always made me laugh. That summer we went to the farmer's market, the downtown locavore market, grocery stores, the park; pretty much everywhere in that wrap. I never knew when I bought that material that it would bring me so much joy.

Another big time for us was when we flew to Ohio just you and me! Oh and of course we ran around the airport with you in your wrap. I wish I had a picture of that day. You were so good. I was scared you would cry a lot and that I would be sitting beside someone who would get aggravated. After praying for a sweet Grandma to sit down beside us, a young guy with listening to his ipod sat down. I thought for sure this wouldn't go well. Then he introduced himself and said that he is a pediatrician. How cool was that!

Warm weather was so much fun with you but surprisingly you had two snowy winters all before you turned one. This is rare living in NC.

Snow day almost a year later, Dec. 2010. You've really changed!

We had 7 inches of snow!

Your first birthday was on a Monday. We had a birthday party for you on Saturday.  We celebrated with GG and grandpa James, Grandma and Papa Clawson, Aunt Ashley, Uncle Brian, and your cousins Jordan and Peyton. You had only one small nap that day but all the fun kept you awake and happy. Your birthday cupcake was the first sugary treat you've ever had...and it showed! You ate it so fast. I thought you might play with it but you took big bites until it was all gone and then acted like you wanted more.

Me, you, daddy and Dellah have had some fun times.  We've danced around the living room, taken a ton of walks, played at the pool, taken trips and you've fallen asleep in daddy's arms many nights. Lillian, you have enriched our life. Our family has grown in size and strength. I pray we will continue to grow together as a family...and into all that the Lord has in store for us.

I love you baby girl!!

Lillian's Baby Dedication

On December 11th, Paul and I publicly devoted our little girl to the Lord.
I say "publicly" because she was dedicated to the Lord long before she was even born.  We pray every night that we will follow Jesus and lead her down the right paths.  Parenthood is no small task!

She was so cute on stage with Pastor Branson. She wanted to get those glasses and microphone.
The lady who took our photos caught this silly face!  I love it!  She actually makes this face all the time.
This was before we left to go to church.  Grandma and Papa Clawson came over early and she was wearing Papa's hat.  After church we all (Momma, Daddy, Lillian, Grandma and Papa Clawson, GG and Grandpa James) went to Trip's.  Yum!

Our little boy has a name!

So we've decided to go with .....  Luke Dalton Clawson.  We love the name Luke and Dalton is Paul's middle name.  Can't wait to meet you Luke!

Embracing my new role

After being home with Lillian now for 9 months I'm finally beginning to truly embrace and live into my new role as stay-at-home mommy.  I've absolutely loved being able to stay home with Lillian.  I can't imagine it any other way!  However, I had a hard time in the beginning feeling like I was not contributing enough for our family.  What I didn't realize is how important a mom and wife is to a family and home.  I've been attending Motherwise at my church and picking up some wonderful biblical principles of strong, virtuous women.  These are stories I have heard many times before but only recently realized the importance of them.  I'm so thankful for Motherwise, and my friends and family that have shared their stories with me.
